Intro

Yo! I’m Wissam, a nerdy tech enthusiast and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with a love for the outdoors and a forte for solving complex problems.

My Early Journey

My journey into the world of technology began in 1992 with my trusty Commdore64 and my first “Hello World” in Basic. In 1999 when I started my computer science degree in Beirut, Lebanon, I “coincidentally” discovered the fascinating world of Linux and open-source software, sparking a lifelong interest in innovative technologies.

In 2007, I graduated with a degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Edinburgh. My career took off with an internship at a startup housed within Sun Microsystems, where I gained my first experience of a real tech company.

Professional Experience

In 2010, I relocated to Montreal, where I spent 13 years working with various companies including Ericsson, honing my skills and expertise in cloud infrastructure and DevOps. In 2016, I decided to embark on a new adventure as a self-employed contractor, providing my clients with top-notch services in cloud architecture, automation, and site reliability engineering.

In 2017, I established my own corporation, Wissam Youssef Consulting Inc., through which I have successfully contracted as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and Site Reliability Engineer. My passion for distributed systems and streamlining workflows drives me to continually enhance my skill set, including an expanding curiousty for cybersecurity.

Life around Vancouver

In 2023, I moved to stunning Vancouver, relocating my corporation in 2024 to continue serving my clients from my gorgeous green surroundings.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, I am a nature lover who loves hiking, running, and exploring the great outdoors. I enjoy traveling, reading books, and learning new languages, always seeking to broaden my horizons. I’ve traveled extensively across Europe, with Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Madrid being among my favourite cities.

Pet

I share my life with Jasmine the Third, a jasmine plant that thrives on the sounds of Metallica.
